The collection contains correspondence re genealogical issues, chiefly between various family members and either Judge William A. Slaughter or Albert Slaughter; genealogical lists; anecdotal material; records and family histories; photographs; printed announcements and business cards; clippings; obituaries; and legal documents including copies of wills. Of interest are copies of a pass for southern travel issued by Abraham Lincoln, and of an indenture and slave bill of sale. There is also a coat of arms for the Smith of Totnes family.
